Bruce Pasetti

Bruce Pasetti

Bruce Pasetti is one of the Legal Practice Directors. Bruce has a track record in commercial law, with a recognised focus in insolvency and restructuring matters.

Bruce’s expertise comes from 20 years of experience across commercial property, commercial litigation, business structuring, insolvency, debt collection, and finance work.

Bruce has particular expertise in all matters concerning debt collection including the design of debt collection precedents and protocols, debt recovery in all Australian jurisdictions.

Bruce has expertise in insolvency and bankruptcy matters having specialised in the area for more than a decade. Bruce has advised liquidators, trustees, directors, bankrupts, secured creditors and other stakeholders on all manner of matters from the appointment process to the deregistration of the liquidated company.

Bruce’s financial experience takes in commercial property finance and all manner of cash flow and chattel lending. Bruce writes and speaks on matters concerning the PPSA and is involved in the writing of finance precedents and legal checklists for Stratos Legal’s finance clients.

  • Writing the precedents and work flows for a national debt collection agency.
  • Acted in debt collection matters for a major publicly listed pharmaceutical company, some of Australia’s biggest purchasers of retail debt, a number of debt collection agencies, local governments, financiers, liquidators and a range of SME clients.
  • Providing advice to the liquidator of Retravision Northern Ltd during a successful Member’s Voluntary Liquidation.
  • Providing advice and drafting Shareholder agreements, trusts and other documentation for the expansion of a family owned drilling business.
  • Undertaking a successful restructuring of a sugar mill in Far North Queensland.
  • Acting for the liquidator of a major construction/development company in a series of building claims, including subcontractor charges.
  • Acted for a shareholder in a dispute regarding a major West End business and property development.

Luke Gunthorpe

Luke Gunthorpe is a very experienced Senior Associate, responsible for overseeing the recovery and litigation matters for Stratos Legal.

Luke is experienced in both high-volume business to business and consumer debt recoveries and larger, more complex pieces of general litigation. Luke has previously overseen recoveries for a national debt collection firm whose client base was spread across various industries. Luke has experience conducting debt recovery litigation in all jurisdictions in Australia. He appears regularly in the Queensland Courts and the Federal Court of Australia in respect of litigation for both plaintiffs and defendants, including contested winding up and bankruptcy proceedings.

Luke’s strengths lie in his knowledge of litigation processes in the various jurisdictions and his commercial and pragmatic approach to resolving disputes. Luke is also experienced in insolvency and bankruptcy matters, having provided advice to and acted for numerous liquidators and bankruptcy trustees.

Amanda Heard

Legal Practice Director

Amanda Heard is a Legal Practice Director and leads the financial services team, overseeing all finance and securities matters at Stratos Legal.

Amanda has extensive experience in all areas of commercial, property, banking and finance and insolvency law.

Amanda also has vast litigation experience ranging from simple debt recovery matters to complex commercial litigation acting for both plaintiffs and defendants across all Australian jurisdictions.

Amanda regularly acts on behalf of Australian financiers, preparing finance and security documentation, registering security interests, reviewing trust deeds, and advising her clients on the structure of proposed transactions and security/priority issues.

Amanda has a special interest in and regularly advises on matters arising from the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Cth).

Her recovery experience includes assisting financiers in exercising their rights under their security interests, including the appointment of receivers, seizure of plant and equipment, obtaining orders for the possession and sale of real property, conducting mortgagee sales along with other forms of recovery actions including proceedings against guarantors.

Amanda advises clients across a range of commercial arrangements including terms of trade, shareholders agreements, partnerships, license agreements and generally on proposed transactions and disputes.

Amanda is pragmatic and direct, providing her clients with practical and commercial advice quickly and cost effectively.
